There are many, many spots for you to find amazing sweepstakes to enter – Contest Mob gives lots of ideas –
…Just to name a few.
For someone who is new to entering contests, it can be a little overwhelming to reach any of these destinations, and know what to do, or what to look for. Here is a little guide to let you know which contests you should be entering – if you can’t enter them all!
1. One Time Only.
Don’t ever let a sweepstakes that is a one time entry pass you by. Each and every entrant has as good of a chance to win as each other. Since you only have to fill out the form once, it requires very little effort on your part. While there may be hundreds of thousands of entries – it is worth 45 seconds to enter. It can be a really nice surprise to receive a winning notification especially if you forgot you even entered.
2. Local Giveaways.
Local giveaways always give you greater odds of winning. Even if you live in a large city – your odds of winning are much greater than a National or International sweepstakes. For some great tips on how to scope out your local contests, read Your Best Odds Sweepstakes – Local Giveaways.
3. Provincial/State Sweepstakes.
As with your local sweepstakes, Provincial or State giveaways will give you much less competition than National ones. Be sure to enter Sweepstakes held exclusively for your province or state.
4. Instant Win.
Instant win promotions are fun! You get to feel great about your win twice – when the screen pops up to say “congratulations, you are a WINNER!” and again when you receive the prize. Instant win promotions often have a large quantity of prizes so you should try to include these types of sweepstakes on your *must enter list*.
5. Sweepstakes With a Large Quantity of Prizes.
If you come across a Contest that is offering many prizes, then I say, enter as often as they will allow you to. Large companies often hold HUGE contests with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of prizes. If you see a Promotion like this – ENTER!
6. Blog Contests.
Whether or not to enter blog contests is a very personal decision. They take a lot more time to enter, and the prizes are often a lot smaller than other promotions. This being said, your odds of winning are pretty good. If you spend 20 minutes a day entering Blog giveaways, I promise, you will see results. Read Blog Contests – Are the Worth Your Time and Effort? to decide if these types of giveaways are for you.
Twitter can be a really great resource for someone who wants to win! Some companies give away large ticket items, while others giveaway smaller items. You can know that in any point in time there are hundreds of prizes up for grabs on Twitter.
Twitter can be a little tricky to understand at first. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. We can help!
8. Essay or Video Competitions.
This is another type of competition that requires more “work” from you. The truth is while only a small percent of the world population enter contests, a smaller percentage of this population will bother to enter an essay or video competition. So if you come across a promotion like this, put on your thinking cap, and create something beautiful, funny, or sweet. Your hard work may be rewarded!
9. Purchase to Win.
Often times, you will find your favorite brands at the supermarket are holding a contest. If you come across a product you love, and they have a special PIN code inside… Then I say – now is a good time to stock up! *Remember* these types of promotions always have a No purchase necessary entry method.
10. Daily, International, Worldwide Sweepstakes.
Hey! No one here is going to tell you not to bother with these types of sweepstakes. These are often the ones with really great prizes. Just remember – your odds go down each time another person is allowed to enter, and when there is a big prize – you can count on LOTS of entrants.
Entering contests is a great hobby. You can put into it whatever you want. You can leave it for a while, and come back right where you left off. The key to being successful is consistency. If you are entering a contest that allows you to enter daily, enter daily. If you are entering a contest that allows you to enter weekly, enter weekly.
