1. Enter as many times as you can
Maximize your chances by entering daily, weekly, monthly – as many times as the contest rules allow.
If it’s a daily contest, enter it daily. If it’s a weekly contest, enter it weekly. If it’s an hourly contest.. you get the idea. The more times you enter, the better your odds. Be careful not to send in more entries than allowed – one too many, and you will get disqualified. Many people don’t bother entering too many times, so being persistent increases your odds.
In addition, enter as many contests as you can, every day. A common win ratio among contesters is 1/700, so you will need approximately 700 entries to win one prize. If you enter 100 sweepstakes a day, you are likely to win one prize a week. It could be a 20$ prize, but it could just as well be a trip to Maldives!
2. Improve your odds – be selective
Give preference to local, hard to find, short entry period, video/essay sweepstakes.
If you want to increase your odds even more, be more selective in choosing which contests to enter. Here’s a list of sweepstakes types with better odds:
- Creative entry – video, image, essay
- Need unique code
- Short entry period
- Many (>300) prizes
- Hard to find
- Limited eligible group (i.e only for students)
3. Read the rules carefully
Many people don’t follow the rules and get disqualified. Rules may contain hidden/easy ways to enter.
Read the rules very carefully and follow them exactly. There are often hidden ways to enter, which can make the entry much easier. Cyanne wrote about the benefits of reading the rules and finding hidden treasures in them. Once you read a dozen of rules & regulations, you will quickly learn how to skim and find important information in seconds.
It’s a known fact, that many people don’t read the rules – and if you do, you vastly increase your chances of winning.
4. Use a form filler
Save time by completing the entry forms with one button click
With a form filler, all you do is click a button on the browser toolbar and the forms automatically get filled out for you. For many contests, you will only need to enter the captcha manually. There are many options to choose from, the best known ones are Roboform for Windows, and 1Password for OSX. There are also many browser plugins available. Sometimes browsers come with the autofill feature already integrated. We will be covering form filling tools in more depth, in the upcoming time.
5. Keep track of your entries
You can’t remember all the contests that you entered. Keeping track will make sure you don’t get disqualified for entering too many times.
If you don’t keep track of your entries, you will not be able to maximize your chances of winning, and often will get disqualified. For example, keeping track of all daily contests will allow you to enter them every day. Keeping track of single entry contests will prevent you from entering it twice, and disqualifying yourself. There are many different ways to keep the contest links organized, and we will be covering many of these methods later on.
Tip: With ContestMob application, you will be able to keep track of your entries in an easy way.
