I was recently asked to join a Facebook group and quickly learned that Facebook Chat is a great tool to help you get more wins and learn more about current contests.
Ever wonder how some people know about contests before others? Chatting to contestors who don’t mind sharing their finds is a great way to know what contests are now running and what contests will be expected to start in the near future. Stumped on that trivia question? Use chat to send it out to your contesting friends. A Facebook friend recently asked me if I knew of any Twitter Parties happening soon, and I was able to share a recent blog post from ContestMob that dealt with that very subject.
You have one day left on your contest, and your slipping in votes! Its a dilema everyone faces as the deadline looms. Facebook chat can help you get back on top for the win. Chat has become a viable way to rally for last minute votes as you are one-on-one with your target audience. They may need a vote too, and will gladly post their own request after yours. Ensure you return the favor! You can also monitor which friends are actively returning and asking for votes, and it would be a great idea to ask them to come together in a Facebook group. You will find you receive more votes this way then using a forum or vote board since you can actively monitor the results.
A recent contest held by Intel Canada is a good example of how Facebook chat raised vote numbers. The few hours before the end, a flurry of messages popped up every minute on my chat from entrants looking to get into those coveted Top 10 spots. Its not unusual for people to change spots within the last few minutes of a contest when you use chat to garner votes. Make sure you use it – or it could be YOU getting bumped out of that winning spot! Remember – that when someone asks you for a vote on chat make sure to have your own vote request ready for them to return the favor. Its a sure vote for you!
When you are in a Facebook group, ensure your settings allow chat messages to be sent to you. Its a great way to connect with your contest friends to keep updated, and a quick way to send out a message to the whole group. Many times, my contest group has send out a message to everyone alerting us to a new contest that is only open for one day, or even one hour. A current example is the Budweiser Canada Boarding Call. You only have one hour a day to tag a seat to get your daily entry and the time to tag changes every day. Without chat, I would have missed most of the tagging times.
The power behind a chatgroup is astounding. We can actively enter competitions as a group, such as Facebook contests which require you to comment under a post for an entry and collect LIKES in order to win. It works well if there is more than one prize offered as you know your friends will have a better chance at winning as well as you.
So gather up your contesting friends in a group and get chatting. They are waiting for you!
